Saxophonist Paul Flaherty and drummer Chris Corsano are New England-based musicians dedicated to the promise and purpose of free improvisation. Paul has released over 20 recordings since the late 70's (many on his own Zaabway imprint), while Chris first appeared on record in 1997. For the past 5 years, the two have operated together in duo format (dangerous n' blazing duo LPs on Tyyfus and Records, and the Ecstatic Yod debut CD The Hated Music) as well as in collaborations with some of the finest freedom thinkers around such as Greg Kelley, Thurston Moore, Jim O'Rourke, Tony Conrad, Matt Heyner, Daniel Carter, Christina Carter and Heather Murray of Charalambides, Spencer Yeh, Wally Shoup, Steve Baczkowski, and Steve Swell. Together, Flaherty & Corsano seek to champion the cause of total free improvisation, an often misunderstood, underestimated, and sometimes even hated artform.

"I don't see many women punching the air at Peter Brotzmann and Mats Gustafsson gigs, but there were screaming girls aplenty at the last two Flaherty / Corsano gigs I went to, and it wasn't just because of their boyish good looks." -- Dan Warburton, Paris TransAtlanic
